LOL Spells Surprise

Did I shock you?No. Well that is one of the biggest things that jokes are based upon. When told the grapple with your logic, twist it and take full example of a confusion of language. A contradiction is what you precieve to be as truth or saying something so offensive that the audience will cringe at the thought, gasp, file a complaint but roll with laughter.

LARRY: The Two Ronnies did that with their Fork Handles Comedy Sketch.
EDD: Yeah I see what you mean.

Take note that the opposite can be true. Some comedians do things that are completely predictable with jokes they are already familiar with but surprise is alwasy an essential in jokes before experimenting. Edd, Larry would you be so kind as to help me demonstrate a classic joke?

EDD: Sure. Alright Larry. Get the ball rolling.
LARRY: My dog has no nose.
EDD: How does he smell?
LARRY: Terrible!

Can you see what just happened?
Larry told us about his dog and the absence of its nose. Now Edd, we assume, wants to know how a dog without a nose can sniff things out. That is what they do with most their time. However, Larry our funny fellow believes that Edd is asking about the hygiene and answers. For a second we scratch our head in confusion, then the light bulb goes off. They you have LOL.

EDD: Fair observation but how will you know if the joke is funny?

To be honest the only way you will be able to find out is by testing it. Even the greatest professionals are never sure until people LOL. So the best thing for you is to try them out on people and gage their reactions.

LARRY: I've been working on a little something. KNOCK KNOCK.
EDD: You can just stay outside till you get some better material.
LARRY:Ahh come on Edd, lemme in. You'll laugh your socks off...Edd....Edd?...OI!
